Action Networks

Action Networks (ANs) are result-oriented, inclusive and informal working groups that comprise different stakeholders (civil society, producer organisations, academic and research institutions; the private sector, governmental officials and UN officials) on the national, regional and global levels. They fuse efforts and knowledge to address specific subject matter related to family farming and to develop specific products in order to provide appropriate input that will facilitate the implementation of the UNDFF at the global, regional and national levels.
Through the exchange of expertise, successful practices and lessons learnt, ANs will provide crucial information and suggest measures to be considered by the International Steering Committee of the UNDFF (UNDFF ISC).

Action Networks are based on an inclusive, multi-stakeholder approach and are open to different entities that perform on varying levels (national, regional and global), including academic circles, research centres, regional and global family farmers’ organisations; NGOs, governments, governmental bodies etc.

Thus, the work of each AN will contribute to the acceleration and harmonisation of efforts regarding specific issues linked to one or more of the pillars/goals of the Global Action Plan for the UNDFF.

Public Policy Cycle for Family Farming

Under the overall umbrella of the Global Action Plan of UNDFF, the development of a modular training program on Public Policy Cycle for Family Farming will strengthen and increase technical capacities of policy makers, family farmers’ organizations and other relevant stakeholders on the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of public policies for family farming.

The modular training guide on public policy cycle for family farming will be developed through a bottom up, participatory modality based on the collaboration of a multidisciplinary and diverse group of experts from different entities and sectors (ministries, governmental agencies and local institutions, family farmers’ organizations, academia, and research centres) and different regions. The aim is to design the training material on a solid scientific base combined with concrete experiences in different regions and local contexts.
